Water for Wildlife Revisited-We Have An Answer-Thanks to Myrl Jeffcoat
My photo of a water fountain for wildlife in Philippe Park in Safety Harbor posted a few days ago brought a lot of questions about how the wildlife access the water.
Our very smart friend, Myrl Jeffcoat, asked a friend who worked with wildlife. His explanation: When wildlife walk up to the fountain, they often find a few drops of water in the basin. When they put their snout in to lick the water, it nudges the pedal and provides more water.
Myrl also mentioned that the sign pointing to the water fountain is for humans; I’m assuming the wildlife is smart enough to figure it out without a sign.
