Oelsner Park is a tiny treasure of a park on the water at Miller’s Bayou that was renewed a few years back through a $50,000 grant from the Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program, and an additional donation from the city's Community Development Agency.

Oelsner Park has been part of the life of the residents for over 50 years and with it’s playground and covered gazebos and spectacular water views, you can see why.  I understand that dolphins show up from time to time (unfortunately, not while I was there).

Oelsner Park is named after the original owner of the area later developed into Martha’s Vineyard in the 1950’s.  Martha Oelsner sold the property to Victor Clark Jr. with one parcel to become a park for the residents of Port Richey-Florida. Oelsner Park has been part of the life of the residents for over 50 years.

To get there, take Bay Blvd in Port Richey west from US Highway 19, turn left onto Miller Bayou Dr.

A Brown Orchid- The One That Got Away

Wandering through Home Depot in Port Richey, last weekend (I spend a lot of time in garden shops), I saw this lovely orchid. It's blossom is actually a brown color which sounds rather dull but it is really quite lovely. I couldn't buy it then because we weren't heading home and I didn't want to leave it in the car all day. I stopped by the next day and it was GONE. :(

Lokey Subaru held an event for SPCA Suncoast and other animal rescue groups

Lokey Subaru in Port Richey, Florida hosted an event to benefit the local animal rescue groups.
There were a lot of groups there and we had great danes, labradors, goldies, pitbull mixes, and kitties of all kinds.

Craig and I were there with the SPCA Suncoast (of course);we had 5 mixed-breed puppies with us and 3 puppies were adopted.
Lokey Subaru held an event for SPCA Suncoast and other animal rescue groups


There was a petting zoo and horse back rides, face painting,  a town jail, and a clown. Lots of kids’ activities, and a lot of people came through. It was a beautiful-blue sky day and everyone had fun.
 
The SPCA Suncoast is open noon-6pm Wednesday-Sunday for adoptions. At 7734 Congress St., New Port Richey, FL. 727-849-1048

Superior Bank and ProShred Security held an event for SPCA Suncoast-New Port Richey

Superior Bank in Port Richey-Florida held a Shred Event with ProShred Security that benefited the SPCA Suncoast last Saturday. The event was a huge success with people waiting in line to shred their old documents. The total donated to the shelter came to $2,000.

Superior had hot-dogs, and all kinds of snacks for the contributors. We were there with puppies for adoption (two were adopted). ProShred did a fantastic job of handling their customers especially since they didn’t expect such a large turn-out. Superior Bank is located at 8623 Regency Park Blvd., Port Richey, Florida. 727-842-7600.
