Philippe Park in the picturesque town of Safety Harbor-Florida is one the prettiest parks on the Florida's West Coast. It sits on the side of, and overlooks Old Tampa Bay and has scenic walkways along the water with lots of benches for sitting, relaxing and enjoying the view. Great for a family picnic too.
Philippe Park was acquired by the state in 1948 out of what was the plantation owned by Count Odet Philippe; who introduced cigar making and citrus culture to Florida. It was originally 162 acres.
Also, of historical interest, there is an Indian Mound that is listed in the National Register of Historic Landmarks. You'll have to climb the mound to see it or you can bicycle up.
There are still some huge oak trees within the 122 acre park. That's my 6ft. husband walking towards the tree. The park is one of our favorite haunts.
