It’s beginning to feel a little bit like Fall in New Port Richey-Florida

It’s beginning to feel a little bit like Fall in New Port Richey-Florida

It takes a little longer to get cooler in Florida, but it is a change in season and we do look forward to.

The humidity is quite a few degrees lower; the highest temperature of the day only reaches 87º; the air has a dryer feel to it and everyone is starting to look forward to pumpkin patches, haunted houses, and all things October. Let’s see: there’s Barktoberfest, Yappy Hour with a costume contest for the doggies, Oktoberfest, the Haunted Train rides at Crews Lake Park, and so many other activities. I will be posting more about the Haunted Train rides soon.

We were at the Organic Farmers Market in Spring Hill last weekend and this display with it’s pumpkins looked so very October!

Hi Steve- that little bit of change just feels so good, doesn't it. We're almost there. Thank you.

Toni--I am just a bit envious.  Here the temps are dipping lower each day.  Today 55 and tomorrow below 50.  I can't even type that number yet.  Enjoy New Port Richey's fall weather and festivities.  I missed my walk today as the rain started as soon as I was done teaching class.  Bummer!

Have a good weekend.  I will watch for the haunted train  . . .

Hello Toni, we are having cooler weather here as well. I am so ready for that. It feels peaceful. We do not usually have humidity, but these last weeks have been especially humid for our area. It is so much harder when the heat combines with the humidity. Having come from Texas....I know it all too well. Enjoy your new and cooler weather, still have to go buy my Lantana plant! Have a beautiful day!

It's 89 degrees in Huntsville today. Yep, feels like Fall! Okay, perhaps it IS a little COOL... but close enough! :O)

Happy October to you.  As we were driving back from LA, last Thursday, we passed a huge field full of orange pumpkins growing a little bit more for all the happy carvers.  It has definitely been cooler here in the high 60's, low 70's and I am in the mood to make my butternut sqush Texas chili recipe, so that I can freeze batches of it for that instant dinner idea with a salad.  I even bought a sweater yesterday.  Have a great weekend, A

Toni, I bet it is really nice once the humidity starts decreasing!    87 still sounds warm, but your October happenings will be ones to watch for in future posts!

Toni - Great pictures of the fall colors! It's a little different here in Florida, but certainly a welcome change for us!

Hi Toni, we can sure feel a little change in the weather, it's really more of a feeling than anything else.  And yes, those farmer markets are a lot of fun, you took a great picture.  Craft fairs and other outdoor things are starting to spring up everywhere as well. This is a great time to be living in Florida!

Hi Toni, I wish the seasons were not changing so quickly but Fall is so beautiful. The fall colors this year should be amazing with all the water this year.

Howdy and evening Toni

the Fall Season is also starting to really sit in up here. The weather report to night said that the high temp for tomorrow will be 57 degrees. Those sure are some mighty fine looking Bell Peppers and little Pumpkins in your photo.

Have a good one

C'mon, Toni, you have to visit us north of the 49th to get a real taste of fall weather - although I certainly could handle a little bit of that lovely New Port Richey, Florida weather!  :-)  That picture from the farmer's market really has striking fall color - beautiful!  Gee, I'll bet the animals just love "Barktoberfest"!

Hi Everyone, it's 70 degrees and 55% humidity this morning. Absolutely lovely.

Mary - where did the summer go? I know, you were out on the boat!

Jeanean - Hope you get some relief soon. You may want to wait till spring to plant the Lantana-it is semi tropical.

Joni - when temps have been in the low-90's and humidity in the low to mid 90's for the past few months, a drop in humidity to 55% is a great relief and a definte change of seasons. :)

Alexandra - I made Sweet Dumpling squash last week. Squash is so wonderful and you can do so much with it. Maybe you could share your recipe with us?

Joan - I will be posting that this weekend.

Stefanie - welcome to ActiveRain-if I can help just let me know. Glad to see a change, I really like the summer but I do enjoy that change to dryer humidity too.

Silvia - It does make a difference; I was up in your neck of the woods when I took this.

William - the summer flew by and I will miss it but the anticipation of Fall is always fun.

Dale - You're high is 57? Wow, now that's almost winter here.

Karen - The dogs really enjoy it especially the costume party.

AH is 44 degrees here and quite chilly. I've seen some folks in town with hats and gloves.. And, snow is predicted at the Snowshoe Ski Resort....the weather went from real hot to cooooool.

That's quite a change, Rebecca. I'm loving today. It's 78 and 45% humidity.

It has cooled off here too.  It is in the 30's and 40's here at night now and 60's during the day.  Fall is definitely here.

Sure sounds like it, Debra. We were in the high 70's yesterday and it was beautiful out.
