A Saturday orchid for you from the Shops at Wiregrass Farmers Market in Wesley Chapel-FL

It was a gorgeous day to be outside in Florida so we headed for one of our favorite places: the Farmers Market at Shops of Wiregrass.

And, look who we saw. Isn’t he unusual? (I think it’s a he but I didn’t want to ask).

Toni, it is that time of the year isn't it?  We were in NJ visiting our daughter over Labor Day and her grocery store had orchids priced at $15 bucks!  They were gorgeous, and of course I had to get a few for her.  They are my favorites! And their blooms last for months sometimes!!

Toni: Seems like October is a great month to motivate us to get out and enjoy community events. I've not ever seen an orchid I didn't like.

Pamela - I love them and we have about 30 but not one like this.

Ceil - I love being out in this weather; and like you I have never seen an orchid I didn't like.

"He" looks a little like an alien.  What a neat photo Toni.

Hi Toni,  I think Michael's comment above was clever. I went back to look at this from his perspective and sure enough I can see the exotic bug in this. On the other hand,  I also had one like it in my collection and can appreciate why you liked it.

Toni, I traveled over to your FB FP and Liked! Thank you for doing same. Love the orchid! We also went to the Farmers' Market and I came home with 2 Lantana plants. I'm planting them tomorrow with a photo for you. I also came home with the cutest pumpkin! Yeah pumpkins. Love your photos as always! Have a beautiful evening!

I think your he is a she.  After all, she's wearing a hat with three tall feathers, ruffles on her sleeves, and a dress with ruffles.

Toni, please tell me you took him home with you!!  What a beautifyl orchid.  Glad you're enjoying fall.  We were quite chilly here today.  Not sure we got out of the high 50's.

That is absolutely beautiful and looks more like a butterfly than an orchid. And the colors? Thanks for sharing as I have never seen one like that before. Have a great Sunday.

Thank you all. It was a stunning plant to see.

Cyndi, I did not take him home. Apparently, he is worth a fortune.

Jim - I can see why you would think that and you may be right :)

Michael - I thought so too.

Jeanean - Yah Hoo, you got them.

William - yes, so lovely.

Toula - so glad to have you back in the Rain!

What an unusual and beautiful shape!

Posted by Debbie Walsh, Hudson Valley NY Real Estate 845.283-3036 (Shahar Management) almost 9 years ago

Toni--WOW!  What an unusual color for an orchid.  I see orchids in the stores and remember seeing lots of them in Hawaii last year.  I have an artificial one on kitchen window sill, but nothing beats the real thing.  Enjoy!

Howdy and morning Toni

your photo and the Orchid are both sure are mighty fine looking!

Have a good one

Debra - I think so too. Kinda does look like a bug.

Mary - I never see these odd ones in stores. Only at markets or Orchid shows.

Dale  Thank you!
