The town of Celebration-Florida near Walt Disney World, has a lovely old-fashioned downtown square. Each year, amazingly, it snows at this exact time of the year (every night!)
It happened to be about 53° that evening with lots of wind off the lake so it was easy to pretend this was real snow and the children had so much fun. The next morning it was 46°. That was Thursday; on Friday we were wearing shorts again. Cold weather doesn’t last in central Florida.
And, you can take a carriage ride. Brrr, too cold for that.

Looks like a fun event. Good luck and happy holidays to you and your family.
Toni ....I bet the kids love it! That' a great name ...Celebration!
Have a great day!
Toni,
I'll bet the kids just love this! And it's good for people of ALL ages! I think that's why FL is such a great place to live and visit - you can always be a kid in FL and find fun things to do.
What a lovely post!
Patricia
This is a lot of fun, we take the kids every year, they get a little taste of a real winter. nearby at the Gaylord palm they have an awesome Ice show where they turn part of the convention center into a winter wonderland
Toni,
Faux snow. Send some up this way instead of the real stuff.
Rich
Toni, What fun it must be to get some winter fun in Celebration...Brrr, it sounds like it was a little nippy in sunny FLA!
Lets see our highs have been in the 40s and lows in the teens. Wanna trade?
The kids always enjoy ANY snow.
Toni: I know the kids must have had a blast thinking it was really snowing. ;-)
What fun Toni! Complete with snow and horses.... I know the kids love this event!
I adore this time of year and all the fun festivities that go along with it! Love the pix too!
We have those celebrations as well - don't you love warm-weather venues. :) We had a bit of a cold snap here - finally took the covers off my blooming impatiens again. I love looking at snow, just not living in it. :) Your photos really capture the FUN!
Toni, That's got to be a pretty cool event....and reminds all the snowbirds why they came to Florida in the first place :)
Josh - and to yours too!
Rob - The kids were having so much fun. Celebration is right outside Disney World.
Patricia - It's the place to retire and stay young.
Frank - we go to ICE! also and love it but it sure is cold in there.
Richard - faux snow-I like that!
Larry & Sheila - it was cold all day Thursday but Friday it was in the low 70's again.
Than - no thank you!
Anita - when it's the best snow you can get; it's fun.
John - It was so cold out; we all believed!
Kristin - thank you.
Cara - I love looking at snow but don't want to live it anymore either.
Liz & Bill - It sure was; everyone had a great time. And, it snows every night at Celebration.
Toni,
That must have been a blast. I wish we could go back to our shorts. It is in the 30's in the morning, and barely makes it to the 60's this week. Clear and beautiful otherwise. The cats are reluctant to go out. Kobe just did, because I let him out on the sunny side...I do like snow when we go skiing. This is a grand idea, snow without all the hassle, as it should be. A
Toni: That's also the only kind of snow we see here in San Diego! I can do without the biting cold!
Toni, this is amazing, snow in Florida, bet the kids love it. I would sent you some from our area but think it would melt by the time it got there.
Alexandra - snow without the hassle--I like that. Poor kitties must be freezing their whiskers off.
Steve - Me too!
Will - I think the box would be leaking by the time it got here but thanks for thinking of us. :)
That's really cute. I am assuming it is a snow making machine they set up. It looks like confetti from the photos! I'm sure the kids love it!!
Jennifer - it was a soap concoction of some kind. Kind of like soapy shaving cream. I had tons on my hair and felt like I had a free shampoo.
I love it when areas of the country create snow effects that absolutely enchant the children. We had a similar event here in our community, when we had our Christmas Tree Lighting Celebration, and opened our Ice Rink for the season. The Ice Rink was the first ever for us.
There is something magical about snow! Everything is hushed and quiet, as though peace has come down with the snowfall. Admittedly, shovelling the stuff afterward isn't so much fun. In Celebration, I guess that's not a problem : )
Myrl - The children were enchanted by it. There was an ice rink there also but no-one was on it once it started snowing.
Dianne - there is something magical about snow; so pretty. Not a problem at Celebration--I imagine they just hosed it off the street :)
Toni- I love Celebration and how lucky you were to attend! Doesn't matter the temp, it brings out the kid in us all.
You're right, Kathy. It just was fun to pretend.
Toni -- That is so cool. I have heard a lot about Celebration. I think I would like to have some of Celebration's snow rather than what we get here in CT.
LOL, Barbara, I don't think we can arrange that.
