Here’s the big question- will the loss of time from your normal showing, selling and listing activities be worth the effort in making the change-over?
- Make a second chart to show how much time you will need to devote to moving yourself over to the new market.
- Try to be honest and practical with the charts-don’t let the emotional excitement of a new idea overwhelm you and hide the reality.
- Look over those charts carefully and decide where the time is going to come from to explore the new field. Will it come out of family time, me time, meal times? How and where will you slot it in?Take that first step but make sure you are fully prepared before you do....it can be a big one.

Toni you're right that first step is a real doozie so weighing the pros and cons is a must do before taking it. Perfect photo for your post. Hope you enjoy the day to the fullest my friend.
Thanks, John. You too!
Toni, Excellent blog! Suggested! I still like it if I put 48 hours in a day instead of 24 then maybe I can take a different route and take that first step.
Toni - how timely - I just added a new service to my staging, Redesign and MLS photography. I find it's feast or famine and would just love some balance. Right now I'm so busy I work 16 hour days, but next month - who knows. That's why I don't complain when things are busy! Have a great day!
Toni, each year, or maybe several times a year, you need to look at the market and keep up with the new facets. This year, I will add video blogging!
Toni, great advice and a wonderful thuoghtful approach to change and decision making...you thinking of a change?
Very good advice. We are seeing many changing their market focus to the growing population of seniors that have special needs. Learning about the advantages of reverse mortgages can be one of the early challenges in the seniors market.

Toni,
This is excellent advice. I have seen ultra prepared individuals succeed from day one. They were so focused that they only saw that goal. Failure was not an option and they hit the ground running. Have a delightful Friday. A
Toni- suggested this one. Love the photo but even more love the message. Take the step but look first. It may be a small one or a really big one. Just know first what you're getting into.
Great advice as always Toni. That first step is always the hardest. Hopefully the procrastinators out there get to read your post!
Toni: Taking periodic inventory of our time and resources so we can re-evaluate and shift focus, change directions completely, or stay status quo is always a good idea.
Deborah - yes, that's all you can do. Good luck.
Will - I know just what you're talking about. There never seems to be enough time in the day. Thanks.
Kristine - I never complain about busy! You never know when it will stop; so make hay while the sun shines.
Joan - that's what I'm working on for this year too.
Kristin - I knew someone would ask that. No, no changes-not this year. At least no company changes.
Roy - you're right because some of those mortgages are complete rip-offs. So learn what's good and what's not.
Alexandra - yes, those people seem to have all their goals lined up and ready.
Kathy - that's a buidling in downtown Celebration, FL. Very unique looking. Thank you.
Jennifer - they will probably not read it till they are halfway to failure :)
Anita - you got it exactly and said it so well!
Toni, Our change is going to be a new design to our website and new IDX which we have already starting working on with a webmaster to make it smooth sailing.
Good advice! In our profession we are constantly bombarded by gurus, each promising a new product or system that will make us rich and famous overnight! It's easy to flit and fly from one shiny new idea to the next, and never give any of them the time or consistent effort that success requires. Plan -- commit -- then implement. Or not.
(Love that photo, BTW. Where did you take it?)
Howdy and morning Toni
Toni my friend, those sure are mighty fine and helpful advice, which you have gave folks!
Have a good one
Dale in New Hampshire
Larry & Sheila - great, I can't wait to see it. I'm thinking of having a new one too.
Dianne - that is a building in Celebration, Florida - the town that Disney built just outside of Disney World. It's a great town and that's where we did this snow post.
Dale - thank you!
Good morning, Toni. Read the title and first paragraph and clicked SUGGEST immediately. Great post!
Yes, I went back & read the entire post. Love photo of building in Celebration. (read your comment above)
Good advice for my pre-license students and newbies in training as well as experienced agents making changes in their business model, even changing to new company.
Mary - Thank you. It's a very interesting building. But more so at night when the mid section is dark.
Toni what great (and timely) advise. Bill and I are in the process of doing exactly what you say - transitioning to add another local area to our market focus. We've always worked in the area but haven't made a concerted effort to build any business there. As we begin to develop the business plan I find myself asking where the time will come from. I sleep from midnight to 6:30, so there's not much time to borrow there!!! I think I can give up meal time and not suffer too much though!!
Cyndi
Cyndi - don't give up too many of those--where will the energy come from?
