This cute looking guy is a Painted Stork, he has pink feathers and looks like a rainbow on legs (long, skinny legs). Painted Storks live in Asia and they are happy there--they don’t migrate. They nest in trees alongside other water birds; and when feeding they immerse half their beak in water and sweep side to side to snap up fish.

This lucky duck--oops, I mean Painted Stork has been adopted by Animal Kingdom in Disney World-Orlando. And, I'm sure he's happy there too.

Good way to fish. I'll have to lay on my side and try that. (Smile)
Toni, he is a treat to see....i bet his legs wow the females!
Great blog and great job. Keep up the good work and good luck to you this year. Thanks again and good luck.
That is a weird looking bird. . . .that long beak makes him appear having a long face. .
Great pic. .
I'd agree that's a weird-looking bird, but then thinking about it -- I don't know I've seen any storks up close. Usually they're in clip art carrying a baby, right? Apparently the long beak is also good for the swooping and snapping thing, who knew?
I saw "Wordless Wednesday" now is there a "Wild Wednesday". Are these contests? Animal Kingdom is an amazing place to visit. Been there only once.
Toni, You have so many interesting and unusual species living in your area. He does look happy. Think he's smiling in your first photo!
Hi Toni,
You get my "shot of the day award". Good way to show off your camera skils.
Have a nice day in New Port Richey, Florida.
Best, Clint mcKie
Andrew - please take a picture and post it :)
Ginny - I bet they do! Especially with those pink feathers.
Josh - thanks.
Fernando - but he's so cute :)
Dianne - He's probably not weird looking to a girl stork. I don't think he's the baby carrying kind either.
Bruce - No not contests; these are Groups within ActiveRain. I put a link in the blog to Wild Wednesday. We go quite often as we live only about 1.5 hour drive away. Welcome to ActiveRain.
Sheila - I thought he was smiling too.
Clint - thanks; do I get any points with that :)
Gorgeous photo and interesting post! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the pictures and the information, Toni! I had never heard of a painted stork before! Very interesting!
Toni, Very interesting and the photo's are great! He does look very happy there! Have a great day!
Toni - This Painted Stork is beautiful. I hope you have him entered in all the photo groups my friend. He deserves a photo feature!
Toni, I sure hope he is happy there too..I wish I could save all the animals and I know you do too!
Great photos and thanks for the interesting information. I couldn't see any pink feathers though.
Good morning Toni. This is a great picture and it is so unusual. Did the pup you posted on Facebook get a home?
He looks pretty happy to me! At least photo one seems to have him smiling.
Toni,
There is no doubt in my mind that the rainbow stork is very happy, look how many wonderful comments he attracted here. I think all creatures are happy bipping along, as they don't have all that "stuff" rumbiling in their heads. A
Wayne & Jean - thank you.
Sharon & Bruce - you're welcome.
Keith - I'm sure he's very secure and gets lots of attention.
John - I do! Thanks.
Kristin - saving as many as possible as are you my animal loving friend.
Than - no, he wasn't cooperating at all. I may have another picture of his buddy that was sideways.
Sheila - Sugar has not been adopted yet. She's the sweetest creature.
Jeanne & Ralph - that's what I thought too :)
Alexandra - isn't that the truth; they have no concept of future so they don't worry about it.
Howdy and afternoon Toni

Hi Toni,
This stork is beautiful and you are right, he does look happy. He has a lovely face. I am not sure I have ever seen this species before. Thanks for sharing.
Toni, I bet that LOOOONG beak is good for snapping up fish! Sure looks like it would get in the way of daily stuff!
Hi Toni, Terrific photos. I had not seen this particular variety before but I recalled taking a photo of a couple of storks and located the photo so hopefully you enjoy these guys as well. BTW, I am writing this and adding the photo from my iPad.
You are right, Toni, that is one wild-looking bird! Thanks so much for sharing!
Anita - thanks, I hadn't heard of a Painted Stork before either.
Carl - thank you!
Kristin - glad you enjoyed the pictures.
Joan - it does look sort of awkward, doesn't it?
William - that's a great photo and aren't they different looking too. I haven't tried doing that from my iPhone yet. I wonder if I can. I know I can comment from it and have done many times.
Karen - they don't move around much though.
Hi Toni, What a cutie. He does have a very long beak. I can see where he would capture lots of fish with that thing.
I don't think I've ever seen a stork up close! I enjoyed the photos and the story, as well as William's! Great capture of color, as your photos are always so vibrant.
Belinda - He looks well fed too.
Cara - Thank you Cara. I'm glad you enjoyed him.
Hi Toni, Sleepy eyes. Great close up photos! Will have to check out the Wild Wednesday Group.

Great shots Toni - I haven't seen this type before either. He looks quite comfortable!
Storks are so lovely, wonder how they were ever accused of delivering babies?
