The Tail Competition -  At Animal Kingdom in Disney World, Orlando

I think the gorgeous Scarlet Macaw wins the prize for his really long tail.  His friend had a shorter tail so I’m guessing there was some competition going on.  Or maybe he really can’t see the end of it. He appears to be looking down his nose beak at the other one.

Spend time in Animal Kingdom in Disney World then come to the West Coast and find a home to live in. You can’t live in Animal Kingdom.

Hello Toni, that is one long tail. Nice picture from Animal Kingdom. We're so fortunate to live so close to theme parks.

Toni, That is one of the longest tail feathers I have ever seen. The colors are also very strikingly beautiful.

Hi Toni, The long tailed bird is actually sleeping. I can't see the tail of the other one but it probably can't be a long as the winner.

I believe that is the longest tail I've ever seen on a bird, other than perhaps a peacock!  He certainly is a gorgeous looking guy, isn't he!

Alexandra - I love his scarlet color too.

Linda - thank you. I always have my camera ready ;)

Lou - It is to be enjoyed slowly.

Thanks, Rob.

Rebecca - I love the colors of this Macaw.

William - I think you're right about him sleeping. The other barely had a tail, that's why you can't see it. I have no idea why.

Myrl - he sure is.

Hi Toni,

Yes the macaw has beautiful colors and long tails. We saw them in the wild when we were in Costa Rica and they travel in pairs and I think they said they mate for life.
