Ribbet Is Getting Better All The Time-Try It For Editing Photos

Ribbet Is Getting Better All The Time-Try It For Editing Photos

This is my curious cat, Shayna, who just loves to check out my African Violet grow stand. I wanted to use iPiccy over the weekend but it wasn’t up and running so I switched over to Ribbet to edit the picture. I was pleasantly surprised because Ribbet has added quite a lot of different effects since I last used it. I'll admit that I wasn't thrilled with Ribbet when it first came back as a ghost of Picnik.

For this photo, I used “Fancy Focus” which can be found in the Effects section. I focused it only on Shayna to make her stand out, the rest of the picture (plants on her shelf and leaves potted to grow babies below) has a soft, blurred look.  You can choose size and where you want the focal point; and how blurred or not you want that part. I can see using it for a room where you want to feature a special section like a fireplace.

Shayna and the Violets

I can still add my name in text and add different borders just as I can in iPiccy. I’ve been having quite a few problems with iPiccy (run by Adobe) lately; I’m wondering if it will be gone at some point. like Picnik.PS: it's free and even the Premium part is free.  If you haven’t tried Ribbet yet, you can click here.

Of course, Shayna is not supposed to be on the shelf but she is very interested in the violets and now wants to help grow them.

Especially when one is down that day, Jennifer.

Pretty cool effect Toni.....I use iPiccy but there are so many functions I've never tried.  I'm not nearly as advernterous as you.

Roger - I enjoy finding new ways to do things (actually, I get bored easily so I'm always into something). iPiccy has been down a lot lately so Ribbet is a great alternative.

Good Morning Toni, I hope iPiccy doesn't go away but in case it does, it's always good to have other options. I've never used Ribbet but will check it based on your post. Shayna knew this photo was going to be used in your post, great photo showcasing your African Violets and Shayna!

Never used Ribbet but on my Mac, I can get some of those effects with iPhoto.  Shayna looks so innocent!

Thank you for sharing this, Toni.  I, too, was used to Picnic and have never found a good subsitiute.

Toni, I use Ribbet all the time and lately they even let you enjoy the premium version for free.

Beth - I hope it doesn't either but just in case I keep both in my favs.

Joanna  - there are lots of great photo editing programs for Mac. I don't have a Mac. Yes, Shayna "looks" innocent but there were some teeth marks on a couple of leaves.

Thanks, Fred.

Elise - Picnik was great but Ribbet is almost a duplicate of it.

Joan - you're right, it is free and I went back and added that since I forgot to say "FREE".

OK of course kitty is the star of the photo I believe :-)  Cute stuff and you are always on top of the technology!

Howdy and morning Toni

Toni my AR friend, that sure is a mighty looking photo shot of both Shayna and your African Violet grow stand. I sure like how you made Shayna the main focuse of the photo.

Happiness sure is Homemade

Have a good one

Toni: A very good review of Ribbet and some of the functions it offers. Thanks for this useful information.

Toni, thank you for pointing this out.  I have only used iPiccy and it has been down a lot lately.  Thank you for providing a good alternative.  And Shayna is beautiful!

I'm fond of Ribbet and iPiccy.  I admit I have gravitated more toward iPiccy recently.  I need to rivisit Ribbet to see their changes.

Never used Ribbit, Toni.  I use Ipiccy a lot.  I need to visit the site to see what's going on.

Hi Toni, All these editing programs have strengths and weaknesses and it is best to use the best of all of them for their strenghts. Good job with the photo.

Larry and Sheila - I think it may be a new feature.

Kristin - Shayna is the star of everything :)

Dale - Shayna likes being the focal point of anything. And, yes, she loves my violets.

Joni - Ribbet is almost identical to Picnik even the layout and format.

Anita - you're quite welcome.

Lisa - iPiccy has been down a lot so I'm hoping it doesn't disappear but Ribbet is just as good.

Myrl - me too, but now I'm going to try out Ribbet more often.

Kay - take a quick buzz through. It's simple and easy to use.

William - thanks, each one is a little different. I still can't get iPiccy to work.

I've been looking for something where I could add text into my pictures, so I will try iPiccy as well as Ribbet to see how they work.
