A Sure Sign Of Spring In New Port Richey, FL

A Sure Sign Of Spring-A New Batch Of Babies

Every year, our resident Sandhill Crane couple brings their babies around for us to approve and enjoy.

We know it’s the same couple because they bring their babies to our back door for our admiration and approval, and wait for the seeds to come out. This year’s new crop of babies is very cute. They were born about two weeks ago and have already grown so much bigger.

Sandhills mate for life, they have one or two babies. Sadly the babies don’t always make it especially if Spring turns back to something cold and nasty. Of course, every year, I hope for the best for these little ones.

That is so nice Toni. Today in Chicago land it is 50 and sunny. I have actually opened my windows while driving around this morning.

Toni, I love those Cranes. They are so interesting to watch as the stroll around the golf course and people's yards. Beautiful to see Moma, Daddy and chicks.

Toni, the Sandhill Crane babies are just too cute with their long stalky legs!  We have a couple as well but haven't been able to take photos because the parents take them for a walk along a busy highway... the whole neighborhood watches out but we are scared some stranger could hit them.

All we can do is envy the stability of these families.  Could it be that we humans should listen to our instincts more??

Toni, this would be awesome to see this family every year.  They are so cute, and you are very lucky!

Such cute little creatures! The only thing that comes up to our door are annoying stray cats!
